I love my Mother. She is the best.
Here are a few reasons to back up my claim.
1. When I was little I remember being afraid every once in a while. I remember especially being nervous in the night. On occasion I would sneak out of my bed and crawl into the space right next to her. It was in that spot where I found myself feeling safe and secure. Thanks you mom for letting me know where to go to feel secure.
2. I remember reading with my mother. A few of my favorites include Piggies, We're Going On a Bear Hunt, and The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear. I am thankful my mother spent time reading to us and reading with is. Thank you mom for encouraging the importance of reading and learning at such a young age.
3. I remember one mothers day I wanted to give my mom some flowers. So I colored and cut out roses. Just a couple of paper roses to stick in a home made card. It wasn't much but she was very thankful for my small acts. To this day I still try to do small acts to show my appreciation. I am thankful that she accepts my small acts as she continues to serve me with love as a mother.
4. I remember being asked to my first dance in High School. It was a homecoming dance and I was in need of a dress. She might have been more excited than I was because she let me try on every dress my heart desired. In the end we found a beautiful pink princess dress. That night I felt like a princess. I was thankful to take a shopping trip with my mom and without the complaints of the males in our family. I am thankful she let me feel like a princess.
5. I remember when I was trying to decide where to go to further my education. It was a very difficult decision for me. After a moment of tears my mom was willing to sit with me through more tears and bestow her wisdom and knowledge to my confused mind. I am thankful for her wisdom. I am thankful for the time she spent calming my fears.
6. I remember the drop off at college. I was sad. A couple of tears and she was driving away. I am thankful that she was able to let go. I am thankful that she instilled in me the belief that I could do college. I am thankful she had faith in me to make good choices and do what is right. I am thankful when she left that she did not leave me alone. Phone calls, text messages, and other forms of communication became a lifeline for me. I am thankful she was there for me when we were away from each other.
I love my mother. I am thankful for her this mothers day and everyday.

"Why have prophets taught the doctrine of motherhood-and it is doctrine- from the beginning of time? Because we must be clear about the issues that swirl around our gender. For Satan has declared war on motherhood. He knows that those who rock the cradle can rock his earthly empire. And he knows that without righteous mothers loving and leading the next generation, the kingdom of God will fail." -Sheri Dew
I am thankful for a righteous mother for she is helping to build the kingdom of God. I hope to follow in her footsteps that I too may be one to help continue to build His kingdom.
