Ten Things I've Learned Freshman Year #4

And I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing
FOMO
Fear of Missing Out
It is a real disease that seems to infect everyone whether they realize it or not.
It is the only rational explanation why people fight off the natural need for sleep to stay out in the living room until all hours of the night without anything to do.
We all just do not want to be the first one to make it to bed in fear that we will miss out on a party that might take place while we are getting our much needed rest.
I understand though. I have been infected since the beginning of this school year.
It's okay though. I have acknowledged my problem and have been working hard to keep this problem under control. I have made a lot of progress since the beginning of the year. I feel like I have overcome some real struggles and difficulties. Sometimes I feel the urge to stay out because FOMO tempts me. But I am fighting a good fight, and someday I might be able to proclaim "I am free from FOMO."

Note: FOMO is not always a bad thing. Only if you are accomplishing absolutely nothing productive. This is the FOMO I am speaking of in this post.
