Where at least I know I'm free.
Free. Free to do what? Free to go to the 4th of July Parade. Free to throw down some blankets at 5:30 a.m. parade day. Free to get to the parade 3 seconds before it starts. Free to take your chairs you left early that morning and set them up right in front of people that have been sitting there on the ground for thirty minutes. Free to not make eye contact with the people sitting on the ground behind you so as not to feel guilty that you are completely blocking their view. Free to be completely inconsiderate. Yes we are free.
I am thankful we are free. But I am bitter because some old people used their freedom to take away from our enjoyment at the parade. Sure they were totally free to do that. But may we remember that we are also free to be considerate and respectful. We are free to be unselfish. We are free to be kind. We are free to sit in our large armchairs in front of people that are sitting on the ground at the parade. But is that the way you want to use your freedom?
